As I surfed the Web, I found this letter written by "Chuck's" daughter.
I must say, that I am blessed to have been able to share these special
experiences with her. . .Through the loss of our fathers, we have gained
a beautiful friendship.
So, here is an excerpt of a letter that she recently wrote to those whom
he served with. I created this page for Misty in her dad's honor,
I did not ask for permission to share this, but I feel that her words will
bring hope to many Veterans looking for their "buddies' families". . .for,
we do believe in miracles.

"On July 25, 1 got
an e-mail that I had been praying for. I received a note from my
Dad's company commander. He had two months prior gotten together
with two of the men from his company, for a weekend, and they had done
almost nothing except talk about my dad!!!! It was an amazing and
terribly emotional experience for me. For 30 years I had thought
no one would remember Dad. I found out that he was brave and that
he had friends. I also found out that his friends risked their lives
to save him. I cannot explain to you how much this information
has meant to my mother and me. We always felt so alone in grieving
for my Dad, and we found out that there was someone who had thought about
him just about every day. And all this happened through your web
page.
Since that time,
I have corresponded with my dad's company commander, and on Veterans Day,
my mom and I met him. It was amazing and wonderful. We were
waiting for him at a party in a room of about 400 people, and he walked
right up to me -- because I look so much like my dad. It was such
a happy time for me.
After that, I was
still searching for the medic that was with my father when he died.
I didn't have a name or any information. Someone said that he was
dead from injuries he sustained trying to rescue Dad. I didn't have
much hope in finding him.
Then, on Tuesday
of this week, I received an e-mail out of the blue from the medic.
He told me exactly what happened when my father was killed, and he told
me good stories, too. He remembered Dad laughing and cracking jokes
when they were back at their base camp. This is the first time I've
heard any happy news from Vietnam. It was truly a miracle.
I certainly don't believe in coincidence anymore."
